Leading Independent Free Video Site Break.com Announces $250,000 Total Payment to Users

LOS ANGELES, CA — Establishing another significant industry milestone, Break.com today announced that it has paid users more than $250,000 to date in exchange for use of their original video content. Break, a premier online entertainment channel for men with more than 13 million unique visitors a month, was the first site to introduce the disbursement model for user-generated content in 2004.

"Early on, we recognized that a new breed of talent was emerging within the viral video market and believed that they should be compensated for their work," said Keith Richman, CEO of Break.com. "We are pleased that the model we created has flourished and allows content creators a system to earn substantial income."

Today, Break also announced an expansion of the popular Break Producer program. Amateur and professional producers, directors and actors who create popular content on a consistent basis are now eligible to share directly in advertising revenue based on the performance of their videos. Break is the first top 10 video site to offer qualified content creators this opportunity. Richman added: "As a leading video site we have the scale to drive significant promotion for videos, and we are excited to share the benefits of our scale with our content creating community."
